The 5th Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-23 (APG23-5), 20 - 25 February 2023, Busan. Republic of Korea (Hybrid Meeting)
The 5th Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-23 was held from 20 to 25 February 2023 in Busan, Republic of Korea. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, Republic of Korea. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of APT and inaugural address was delivered by Mr. Woo Hyuk Choi, Director General, Radio Policy Bureau, Ministry of Science and ICT, Republic of Korea. Mr. Mario Maniewicz, Director of Radiocommunication Bureau, ITU and Dr. Kyu Jin Wee, Chair of APG-23 also delivered addresses at the opening session.
APG23-5 was organized as a hybrid meeting. A total of 884 participants attended the meeting of which 431 were in-person participants. Other attended through virtual platform. The main objectives of APG-23-5 were to update the APT Preliminary Views on WRC-23 Agenda Items and develop APT contributions or CPM23-2.
APG23-5 received over 150 contributions from Members, Affiliate Members, ITU and from other international/regional organizations on various issues related to WRC-23. APG23-5 reviewed those contributions, the draft CPM Report and other relevant information in relation to WRC-23 Agenda Items. After considerable discussion and negotiation, APT Preliminary Views on WRC-23 Agenda Items were updated which are available at https://www.apt.int/APTAPG. APG23-5 approved a contribution to be submitted to CPM23-2 and made arrangement for the APT coordination activities for CPM23-2. There was also a dedicated session for the preparation of RA-23.
In addition to these activities, one meeting of the heads of delegation was organized during APG23-5 in order to consider the candidates of APT for various positions of WRC-23 and RA-23. APT Members proposed the names of the candidates for various positions. APG23-5 noted the nominations which would be forwarded to the ITU Informal Group for WRC-23 Preparation.
A total of 77 meeting sessions were arranged during APG23-5 which indicated the busy meeting schedule and intensive discussion on various issue related to WRC-23 Agenda Items.
The final preparatory meeting for WRC-23, the 6th Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-23 (APG23-6), will be held from 14 to 19 August 2023 in Brisbane, Australia and to be hosted by the Australian Government.

The 35th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-35) 17 - 20 April 2023, Bangkok, Thailand (Hybrid)
The objective of ASTAP is to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional cooperation. It is expected that participants strengthen their expertise on standardization and contribute to expand the scope of standardization activities through practical solutions on the ICT issues in this region. In addition, ASTAP-35 will organize an one-day Industry Workshop on 17 April 2023.

The 1st Meeting of APT Preparatory
Group for WTSA-24 21 April 2023, Bangkok, Thailand (Hybrid)
The objective of APT WTSA24-1 is to establish the structure of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-24, to adopt its tentative Terms of Reference, to develop Working Methods of the Preparatory Group, to appoint Office Bearers and to develop tentative Work Plan and Timeline of the Preparatory Group.

SATRC Workshop on Policy, Regulations and Services 2 - 4 May 2023, Islamabad, Pakistan (Hybrid)
The workshop will be hosted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The SATRC Workshop on PRS is a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII (SAP-VIII) for 2022-2023 which was approved by the 22nd SATRC meeting held in 2021 virtually. The objective of this workshop is to share insights, experiences, best practices as well as engage in dialogue to identify the challenges, opportunities and possible way forward on the work items under the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services for SAP-VIII in order to have better understanding on those issues. It will also provide an opportunity for the SATRC Members as well as industry to share their experiences.

The 31st Meeting of APT Wireless Group (AWG-31) 22 - 26 May 2023 Ha Noi, Viet Nam (Hybrid)
The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
AWG covers various aspects of emerging wireless systems to meet the emerging digital convergence era in the Asia-Pacific region. It also assists to provide effective radiocommunication solutions and to facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge. In its 31st meeting, the AWG will continue to study on the existing work items, report on the progress of studies and discuss the relevant issues.
